Metro: Last Light

A computer game in the genre of a post-apocalyptic first-person shooter with elements of survival horror and stealth, developed by the Ukrainian company 4A Games and published by Deep Silver on Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in May 2013.

The game received generally positive reviews from critics. The main advantages of the game were the atmosphere and design of a post-apocalyptic Moscow, graphics and gameplay. At the same time, weak artificial intelligence, some technical problems and strong simplicity were highlighted as disadvantages. The Ranger bonus mode received for pre-order, as well as the storyline received mixed reviews. The game was a commercial success — its retail sales for the first week in the United States exceeded the retail sales of the previous game. Based on Last Light, Glukhovsky released a dystopian novel "Metro 2035" in 2015. In August 2014, an updated version was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the subtitle Redux in the Metro Redux package, which also includes a remaster Metro 2033. In 2020, Last Light was ported to the Nintendo Switch. A sequel to the game, Metro Exodus, was released in 2019.

Plot

Metro: Last Light takes place in 2034, a year after the events of Metro 2033, where Artem launched a missile attack on the Black-mysterious creatures that allegedly threatened the survivors of the Moscow metro after a nuclear war. The Rangers, a neutral peacekeeping force, have since occupied the D6 military facility, which Artem visited in the previous game. D6 is a huge and not yet fully explored bunker. The main character, who became a ranger in the previous part, remains unsure whether it was the right decision to kill Blacks. Rumors about the discovery of D6 and its riches spread throughout the metro; the communist group competing with the Rangers The Red Line and the Fourth Reich hope to capture the bunker and its contents.

Gameplay

Gameplay of the game. Artem fights with a mutant in the subway. Studio 4A Games deliberately used a minimalist approach to creating an in-game interface. In addition to the ammo counter and the time on the clock, there is nothing from the interface

As in the previous game of the Metro series, Metro 2033, the player takes control of a young fighter Artem. The action takes place in Moscow, most of the game takes place in the city's metro, but sometimes the player goes to the destroyed streets of the capital in the course of the plot Of Russia. The main gameplay consists of battles with mutated monsters and hostile soldiers of various factions. The locations have become much larger when compared with the previous game, thanks to which the levels have several routes and even more secrets. If a player encounters an enemy, he can either pass quietly and unnoticed, or shoot everyone. Various diary entries of Artem are scattered throughout the levels, giving an additional idea of the history of the game
